Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to know the concept of traditional Chinese medicine body constitution.

Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to know the relationship between body constitution and self-rated health status in breast cancer patients.

Purpose: The aims of this study were to investigate and compare between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) body constitution and health status of breast cancer patients in follow-up period.

Methods: A cross-sectional research was designed.A total of 358 participants from Taiwan Breast Cancer Alliance (TBCA) were studied.Data were collected by structured questionnaires including demographic data, self-rated body constitution and health status, Yang-Xu body constitution (BCQ{), and Yin-Xu body constitution(BCQ|) from August to December in 2012. The higher the score of self-rated health status means healthier. The higher the score of self-rated body constitution means stronger. But the higher the scores of BCQ{and BCQ| mean more weakness of body constitution.

Results: The participants mean age was 56.9±7.7 (years) .They reported self-rated health and self-rated body constitution scores were 6.6±1.9 and 6.4±1.8 (range 0-10), respectively. The mean scores of BCQ{was 33.8±10.5 (range 19-86), BCQ| was 34.4±11.1 (range 19-186). The participants' perception of self-rated body constitution significantly and positively correlated with self-rated health status. The measurement scores of BCQ{ and BCQ|had significantly negative correlations with the self-rated health status.

Conclusion: The correlation between individuals' self-rated body constitution and health status were consistent with the measurement scores of breast cancer patients in follow-up period. Therefore, results of this study provide evidence for nurses to educate breast cancer patient that strengthen the concept of TCM body constitution of persons could promote their health status.
