The partnership forged between The Ohio State University College of Nursing and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center facilitated the development of initiatives to achieve the goals set forth by the Institute of Medicine (2010) Report on the Future of Nursing.  We will present three successful academic and service collaborative programs: 1) Successful new graduate entry into the workplace; 2) EBP dissemination model; 3) Nurse Health and Wellness.  The first program is an effort to streamline hospital orientation for the new graduate nurse entering into practice.  The college and health system worked together to weave nursing orientation content into senior level coursework to increase the confidence of new graduates as they enter the profession as well as decrease orientation time and cost.  The second initiative focusing on EBP, included a collaboration with the Center for Transdisciplinary Evidence-based Practice (CTEP), which is based at the college of nursing.  A comprehensive plan to build EBP skills, create a cadre of EBP mentors, implement EBP outcome driven initiatives, and sustain a culture of EBP was developed for nurses. The third initiative focused on promoting the health and wellness of the nursing workforce.  The college and the health system partnered to provide nurses the opportunity to participate in an innovative program that emphasizes energy management through a comprehensive examination of goals and values in relation to one’s spiritual (purpose), mental, emotional and physical development.
