Summary: Pain, a common patient experience, has complex recommendations to guide care. New approaches are needed to improve practices globally. This symposium reports human factors-engineering principles for pain management, a qualitative feasibility study that analyzed cognitive and system factors impacting nurses’ pain management, and solutions for application of evidence-based pain management.
