J 11 Nursing Research on Sexual Assault: Utilizing Data to Increase Knowledge and Improve Practice

Summary: Findings on three research projects from a large-scale (N=2,350) exploratory, retrospective study on sexual assault will be presented. Topic areas include: descriptive data on victims and assaults, peri-traumatic symptoms of rape, and submission of biological evidence collected during examination for DNA testing. Implications for health and safety will be discussed.
