Methods: The hospital set up an isotope therapy unit in April 2015 to provide high-risk radioactive iodine 131 isolation for patients with moderate to high risk of thyroid cancer after surgery, and relapsed and distant metastases. Patients receiving isotope therapy often make patients feel terrible and fearful. To provide radioactive iodine 131therapy before, during and after the focus of care and home care, including the role and mechanism of taking iodine 131, the principle of low iodine diet, side effects, and home care implementation, reduce the use of radioactive iodine 131 complications Based on the patient's consideration of oral high-dose radioiodine 131 complications and the improvement of the guidance of nursing staff in the oral administration of high-dose radioactive iodine 131, this unit aims at taking orally high-dose radioactive iodine 131 inpatients and using "oral high-dose radioactive iodine 131 Health Education Checklist "," Isotopes Treatment Wards Guardianship Manual "," Medication Process Videos "and other tools to conduct a series of health education guidance, discharge preparation service tracking and data statistical analysis. Data collected from medical center in central Taiwan, from July 2016 to December 2017, total of 184 inpatients were admitted to hospital for oral high-dose radioactive iodine 131,Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 18.0 software package. Descriptive statistics describe basic information of telephone nursing consultation services by frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
Results: The results showed that 36 males (19.6%) and 148 females (80.4%);age group is 45 years old: 115 (62.5%) younger than 45 years old, more than 69 (37.5%); The symptoms distress of patients were mainly nausea and vomiting (10.7%),followed by sorethroat (6.7%), hoarseness 5.4%) and taste change (1.3%);. patient satisfaction is 95.9 points ;integrity of the nursing staff's guidance was increased from 58.2% to 99%.
Conclusion:This study shows that the development of a set of clear specialist indicators for the implementation of clinical nursing staff can understand the patient's disease treatment and its related factors and provide appropriate counseling and health education during hospitalization to improve the patient's treatment-derived problems, and thus reduce Anxiety and fear, the results provide a reference to nursing practice and nursing education.
