Purpose: To be aware of the relationship between the caring abilities, attitudes towards dementia and the perception of the Social Support of the Informal Care Givers to the elderly suffering of dementia.

The aging process comes most of the time along accompanied by chronic illnesses such as dementias, they can cause a progressive los of the self autonomy of the elderly, to the point of making them dependant of others. This dependancy of the elderly means that dementia alters the family dynamics, particularly of those whom in charge of providing the cares usually known as informal care givers; these persons have to face the responsibilities, and in many cases, without having the required ability to do so, due to the lack of knowledge thus, the attitudes towards dementia may have direct consequences on the elderly, resulting in requiring formal social support care, since in most of the cases the care givers provide these services without any support of an institutional network which may offer permanent and close watch of other people.

Methods: The suggested design to be used in this research will be descriptive correlated. The sampling will be performed by Informal Care givers of Elderly with dementia, with residence in Saltillo, Coahuila. The sampling will be made with the statistical software nQuiry Advisor 7.0. social demographic and health data will be collected and the evaluations will be performed with three instruments: The scale to measure the caring ability of the family care givers of the persons with a chronic illness; Scale of Attitudes towards Dementia (SAD) and the Scale of Social Support to Family Care Givers to the Mexican Elderly (SSS/FCGME). The data analysis will be made with the SPSS V23 software.

Results: To analyze the information, will be used frequencies, central tendency measures and correlated analysis.

Conclusion: Result will be searched by looking for the differences and accordances with the literature used as well as discussing the implications of the results to improve the clinical practice.
