Culturally Appropriate Models for HIV Prevention

Learning Objective #1: Describe nurses feelings on vulnerability related to caring for HIV
Learning Objective #2: Identify and describe at least one cultural-based HIV prevention program
Presented in collaboration with the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) Primary prevention of HIV infection remains the single most effective strategy for combating the worldwide epidemic. Cultural is a major variable that must be considered when implementing prevention programs. This session presents research which focuses on cultural aspects of prevention that impact both the indigenous nurse and the indigenous population.
