Objective:determine of compliance with anti-tuberculosis agents in patients with lung or extra-lung tuberculosis and relationship between some of the known factors and compliance. Design: descriptive correlational Population, sample ,setting,years:110 patients who were receiving anti-tuberculosis agents from a clinic were selected by census during three months. Concept or variables studied together:variables include: compliance-treatment duration-new sputum smear-side effects of anti-tuberculosis agents-disappearing signs and symptoms of disease-taking other agents-previous history of compliance- and cognitive factors. Methods:observation of changing in urine color based on Potts-Cozart Test(evaluation of metabolites in urine)-observation of changing in urine color to orange-interview with patients by a questionnaire to determine any delay in receiving drugs-disappearing signs and symptoms of disease-and a new negative sputum smear.patients were divided to completely, relatively and poorly compliant. Findings:12.7% were completely , 68.8% relatively and 25.5% poorly compliant. There was a direct relationship between cognitive factors ,taking other agents, side effects of Streptomycine and presence of cough, and compliance. Conclusions:compliance in this study was related to the information of the patients about therapy regimen and not to their literacy.side effects of Streptomycine was high because of using high doses of it instead of accurate doses. Implication:our patients need more interventions about taking the drugs and how to taking the drugs
