Dr. Roy will outline the INDEN Mentorship/supervision Project, and Dr. Gray will discuss international quality indicators for doctoral education. The Internatioanl Network for Doctoral Education came about as a result of felt need by international colleagues, expressed during a U.S. Doctoral education conference, held by the University of Michigan in 1995. Further meetings were held preceding ICN in Vancouver -- 1997, London, 1999 during its informal phase. However, the group was formalized in 2000, with bylaws and membership. Its aim is to advance and promote high quality doctoral education in nursing through national/international collabroation. INDEN membership now stands at 170, with 24 of the 30 countries represented. Nearly 30 percent of membership comprised of doctoral students and the work understaken is in two categories: a) Organizational and creation of infrastructure to be able to carry out our work b) Substantive work related to the objectives and goals of INDEN.
