Learning Objective #2: Describe the outcomes of this community based program

Introduction: In South Korea, there is long-term program for the incontinent elderly in the community level. The elderly in Korea have a poor economic condition, so incontinet elderly have the reluctance to visit hospital for their symptom. As we know, incontinece may be treat or relieve by using continuous pelvic floor muscles exercise. But this treatment effect depends on effective exercise for long period as possible. Here, I developed incontinece management program in the elderly welfare center for 10 weeks. Purpose: This reserch aimed to look out outcomes of this community based program. Methods: Subjects were recruited at the welfare center by formal notice for 2 weeks. The attendent was limited to 30 persons because of space and manpower. I managed program for 10- week with 2 hours once a week. Outcome measurements were comprised of incontinence knowledge, day time freuency, intra-vaginal pressure, and frequency of urinary leakage. Conclusion: During 10-week program, incontinence knowledge and intra-vaginal pressure were increased, and daytime frequency and in frequency of leakage were decreased. Conclusion: This Incontinence management program for the elderly at welfare center was effective to relieve symptoms of incontinent elderly and to increase incontinence knowledge.
