Learning Objective #1: Understand the nurse staff's temper |
Learning Objective #2: Assist in placing staff in variety of nursing areas |
Background: The temperaments of nursing staff were always impressed having tenderness, carefulness, and thoughtfulness. In various nursing professions, what kind of temperaments should nurses have? However, the study of personnel temperaments linkages across nursing work has been a neglected area of research. Objectives: To explore nurses' temperament constitution based upon Chinese medical perception in order to understand nurses' characteristics. Methods: A phenomenological study was posted. With in-depth interview protocol along with radio recoding, 10 subjects were participated in this study. Results: The essences of overall subjects' temperament constitution were discovered as deliberation, perfection, responsibility, harmony, openness, endurance, and exquisiteness, which were closed to the "moo" type of Chinese temperament constitution style. Conclusion: The nurses' characteristics (temperaments) were found. The study suggested that developing a tool for assessing personnel characteristics would assist in placing staff in a variety of nursing areas.
