Learning Objective #1: Realize the health-related quality of life in patients receiving resectional pulmonary surgery at one month
Learning Objective #2: Realize the related factors of the health-related quality of life in patients receiving resectional pulmonary surgery at one month

Lung cancer accounts for the most frequent type of cancer death. Currently, resectional pulmonary surgery provides the best chance for a cure for patients in the initial stage of lung cancer(before ˘»A stage), and "Health-Related Quality of Life(HRQL)"has become the most important issue in planning and executing medical treatment. The purpose of this correlational study is to identify the variables related to HRQL at one month among patients receiving resectional pulmonary surgery. The purposive sampling is used in an outpatient department(OPD) of a medical center in Taipei. Questionnaires used in this study included a demographic data sheet, medical related data, a psychosocial impact questionnaire, HRQL, and physiological functions indicator. Data were analyzed by arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test, Oneway ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, Spearman's correlation, and Stepwise regression analysis. The major findings were the differences or correlations existing in the patients' marital status, SaO2, depression level, or pain level of wounds and HRQL are significant. Moreover, pain level is the most important predictor of physical domain. FVC is the most important predictor of psychological domaim. Gender is the most important predictor of social relationship domaim. Pain level is the most important predictor of Taiwan social relationship domaim. FEV1˘Mis the most important predictor of Taiwan enviroment domaim. The study concludes with the suggestion for promoting the HRQL in patients receiving resectional pulmonary surgery in the aspects of clinical implementation, public welfare policy, nursing research and education.
