Learning Objective 1: Formulate a chapter communication plan that outlines a precise plan of how to effectively keep members involved and informed of chapter events
Learning Objective 2: Utilize a variety of communication tools and resources to target members, subsequently improving chapter visibility and overall communication at a local, regional and international level
Kappa Tau’s communication plan is used to promote chapter membership, maintain contact with current members, inform members of upcoming events and reach out to new members. In addition, non members are informed about not only what Kappa Tau is doing but what STTI is all about. Kappa Tau has successfully utilized a variety of communication tools and resources that include but are not limited to; Newsletters (print), E-Newsletters, Emails, mailings, flyers, posters, member phone calls, Circle, Facebook, Twitter, local newspapers, and chapter website. Kappa Tau devised a plan to communicate on a weekly, monthly and an annual basis to highlight chapter activities and events, including regional and STTI updates. After our annual Heart of Leadership Dinner, Kappa Tau president posted on Facebook; “The Heart of Nursing Leadership dinner this year was another phenomenal success. Albeit a small group of 13 this year but a quality gathering of local nurse leaders and members with over 3 and a 1/4 centuries yes, centuries of nursing experience gathered for an evening of networking and camaraderie!!”. Before their induction ceremony, new Kappa Tau inductees received a personalized welcoming email from the chapter’s president elect sharing a personal professional journey and the enriching opportunities STTI membership provides enabling academic, clinical, professional and personal growth, fostering a collegial and professional networking environment, hence setting a welcoming and empowering forum for new and existing members. As a result of our communication plan, we have increased our membership, member involvement in programs, and both Kappa Tau and STTI’s visibility.
