Learning Objective #1: identify two advantages to using a transformational leadership style to facilitate change. |
Learning Objective #2: identify barriers to implementing evidence based practice in the acute care setting. |
Implementing evidence based practice requires professional clinical competence, institutional support, leadership skills and a value for patient preferences. Leadership has been identified as a crucial component for the implementation of evidence based practice. In this project, a transformational leadership model is utilized to implement evidence based fetal monitoring in a rural community hospital through the work of a multidisciplinary team who set out to change practice and improve patient care for laboring women.
