May Wykle, PhD, FAAN, FGSA, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA

This presentation addresses social climates that may lead to disparity in health care in elderly populations, and will include specific innovative examples that support self care. Included is a discussion of the ramifications of well-being within the climate of vulnerability, including disparity, with specificity to various populations, health care problems and settings.  Exemplars are used to illuminate implications of the phenomenon of well-being within the elderly who are at risk globally for compromised health care.
