Bonnie E. Christie, RN and Tracie L. Northway, RN, BScN, MSN. Pediatric Critical Care, British Columbia's Children's Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada
Learning Objective #1: The learner will observe how Kouzes' and Posner's model of leadership contibutes to leadership development and building of a team.
Learning Objective #2: The learner will identify challenges in working with a team on a goal or project.

The journey to becoming a leader is fraught with obstacles. This poster describes our leadership journey during STTI's Maternal-Child Leadership Academy. Utilizing Kouzes' and Posner's model of leadership, the lessons learned are described through a reflective lense. Personal development as a leader, supporting a leader as a mentor, creating and building a team and moving forward on a project are areas of focus. In particular, the journey to develop a strong mentor and mentee relationship will be described as this proved to be a barrier to moving forwards within this project. The team's passion for improving patient outcomes will be highlighted and discussed as a primary reason as to why this leadership journey has been successful.
