SPECIAL SESSION: Achieving the TIGER Vision: Exploring 9 TIGER Collaboratives that will Shape the Future of Nursing
Learning Objective #1: The learner will be able to describe the TIGER Initiative's vision to integrate informatics and evidence into daily nursing pracitice and education.
Learning Objective #2: The learner will be able to contribute perspectives to each of the 9 working TIGER Collaborative nursing groups that are working towards the TIGER vision.
This session will introduce participants to the T.I.G.E.R. (Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform) Initiative that was launched in 2006 in the United States. The 10-year Vision and 3-Year Action Plan will be shared along with a deep dive into the 9 Active TIGER Collaborative groups including: Standards and Interoperability, Healthcare IT National Agenda/HIT Policy, Informatics Competencies, Education and Faculty Development, Staff Development/Continuing Education, Usability/Clinical Application Design, Virtual Demonstration Center, Leadership Development, and Patient-Focus/Personal Health Record. Participants will be briefed on each of the TIGER Collaborative goals to achieve the 3-Year Action Plan and invited to provide perspectives into each that will shape the future of nursing by integrating informatics and evidence into every day education and practice. Finally, Sigma Theta Tau members will be encouraged to engage in any of the TIGER Collaboratives they believe they have the passion and expertise to influence goals of the TIGER Initiative. The session will be led by a TIGER Leader(s) that have a history of the grass-root efforts and are engaged in the day-to-day engagement of nurses across the world that are committed to this focused effort preparing our current nursing leaders, educators, and practitioners with the skills needed to LEAD in the Informatics Revolution upon us.
