OPENING PLENARY: Power, Peace and Perseverance: Lessons Learned from Mother Teresa |
Learning Objective #1: The learner will be able to identify and adopt the positive attitudes and traits shown by various leaders, including Mother Teresa, to reduce workplace stress and improve patient care. |
Learning Objective #2: The learner will be able to know how and when to "go the extra mile" with a patient and reach out beyond their normal comfort zone, knowing they are truly making a difference. |
This presentation outlines three key principles utilized by Mother Teresa to serve the poor without becoming personally overwhelmed--the power of silence, utilizing active gratitude and turning difficult situations into positive outcomes. Through video and storytelling, the presenter then brings the principles to the hospital setting by sharing her own experience with a nurse who provided extraordinary care after a life-threatening miscarriage.
The presentation includes both humorous and compelling videotapes and quotes. |
