SPECIAL SESSION: International Service and Learning Program: Exploring Ideas for Global Partnerships - An Interactive Forum
Learning Objective #1: identify resources for the development of international service and exchange programs
Learning Objective #2: describe ways in which nurses from around the globe can partner in creative, sustainable education and service projects.
This presentation will provide an overview of the International Service and Learning Program (ISLP). ISLP is a project being developed by Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) as a means of achieving many of its global objectives. ISLP's mission is to provide a comprehensive program which fosters the development of creative, synergistic, and sustainable global partnerships. STTI has put forth an ambitious agenda related to international collaboration, leadership, communication and sharing of knowledge. STTI's 20/20 Presidential Call to Action asks members to work to become a global community of nurses. We are encouraged, among other things, to: "heighten global awareness for all members; honor nurses in another country; make one commitment of our time, talent or treasure; and to form relationships with nurses outside our home country." ISLP will provide more opportunites for members to accomplish those goals.
