Monday, November 2, 2009: 2:00 PM-3:15 PM
Description/Overview: These presenters have received a $1.6 million HRSA Innovative Nursing Education grant to provide a computer application for nursing faculty that will allow them the opportunity to manage clinical simulations while advancing in their own competency and proficiency levels of simulation management. Using the virtual reality world of Second Life, faculty will design and deliver a geriatric case in a synchronous format using avatars. The purpose of this presentation will be to familiarize participants with the SL virtual world, to present proposed faculty competencies for simulation management, to demonstrate the current status of the project, and to discuss the positive and negative aspects of teaching and learning with a virtual environment.
Learner Objective #1: Discuss the positive and negative aspects of teaching and learning in a virtual environment.
