Description/Overview: This presentation will trace the history of informatics and highlight major events that have facilitated the integration of informatics into nursing and health care. This presentation will highlight the many leaders who have created the discipline of informatics and served as mentors to a generation of nursing informatics specialists. The presentation will conclude with a glimpse of the future and nursing’s involvement as informatics becomes woven into the fabric of nursing practice.
Learner Objective #1: The learner will be able to highlight major events in the history of nursing informatics.
Learner Objective #2: The learner will be able to identify two goals for the future of nursing informatics.
