Sunday, November 1, 2009: 2:45 PM-4:00 PM
Description/Overview: This session will provide an overview of Vision 2020, a new strategic planning document launched by Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing in 2007 as well as Leading Globally, the Presidential Call for the 2007-20009 biennium. Four key goals will be discussed: 1) the need for the Honor Society and members to be “intentionally global,” 2) the need for the Honor Society to continue to build its knowledge resources, 3) the need to further develop the leadership skills of our membership, and 4) the need for greater emphasis on service as a means of achieving the mission and vision of the International Honor Society of Nursing. Strategies for achieveing all of these goals will be discussed, including action plans which have already been initiated at the international level. In addition, participants will be encouraged to share their ideas regarding how best to accomplish these goals at the individual and chapter level.
Learner Objective #1: Identify strategies your chapter and you personally can undertake to be "intentionally global" and to be a thought leader in knowledge creation and leadership development.
Learner Objective #2: Identify strategies your chapter and you personally can undertake to increase the Honor Society's focus on service to others.
