The session will explore the implementation and impact of a matrix leadership structure in a school of nursing.  The process of implementing a matrix leadership model requires addressing several key areas including creating and delineating roles and responsibilities, identifying potential faculty and administrative staff for the roles, achieving the goals for the organization, clarifying workload distribution, and transitioning from a more traditional top-down leadership model.  The impact of a matrix leadership model on the faculty, administrative staff, and support staff will also be discussed. Through the matrix leadership model the complex issues that face a school of nursing can be managed using collaborative synergy.
