How to involve non-English nurses into global community: First Japanese Chapter case

In Japan, there are approximately 1.47 million nurses who work at the variety health care settings such as hospitals, clinics, health facilities for the elderly, health centers, or maternity homes, etc. Tau Nu Chapter was established as the first chapter in Japan in March, 2006. Tau Nu Chapter yearly has inducted about 20 new members, and totally had 126 active and 210 non-active members in 2012. Although language adjustments between English and Japanese are needed, the existence of our chapter becomes the clue to involve the global community and to participate in an international congress. There are not many members at an academic meeting with an international speaker each year because of countryside location of Tau Nu Chapter. Improvement of homepage and exchange program by IT use is necessary to communicate with/among members. We will show the brief description of Tau Nu Chapter and also discuss the chapter management strategies of non-native language of English.
