This session will describe the journey of refocusing and realigning expected student outcomes to an academic institution’s mission, vision, goals in order to improve learning and achievement by both students and faculty. The process of preparing for professional accreditation provided the impetus for self assessment and the development of best practices that would promote student learning and program success. The assessment plan process will be discussed to illustrate how a structured assessment plan aligned to the academic institution’s mission and goals can lead to developing the process and expected outcomes that inform decisions. The assessment plan that was constructed included developing meaningful assessments along the curriculum and collecting data that to inform and improve practices affecting student learning and program success.
