Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to understand the barriers of Evidence-based Nursing among psychiatric nurses

Aim

The purpose of this study was to explore the concepts, attitudes and factors of evidence-based nursing among psychiatric nurses

Methods

The convenience sampling was used to collect the data from 200 psychiatric nurses in South Taiwan. The IRB was approved before the research was conducted. Then, the anonymous questionnaire was send to each participant. In addition, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data.

Result

The internal consistence of questionnaire was high ( Cronbach's alpha = 0.957-0.961). The Cronbach’s alpha of each subscale was 0.846-0.902. The result showed that the internal consistence of subscale was high. In addition, the internal consistence between English and Chinese version was similar. The average age of participant was 45.11 years old. The barriers of evidence-base nursing performance were “have enough time” (M=4.16,SD=0.685)and “Difficult to apply the research result” (M=4.02,SD=0.612).

Conclusion

The result of this study can be guided the in-service program for clinical nurse and practice program among nursing students. It is important to connect the Evidence-based nursing concepts and practice not only in the school lecture, but also in the clinical practice of nursing students and in-service program among clinical nuses.
