Learning Objective #1: Understand factors related to depression among elderly Korean immigrants.
Learning Objective #2: Understand family relationships experienced by elderly Korean immigrants.

Abstract
Purpose:  This study was designed to determine which explanatory and demographic variables were related to depression among elderly Korean immigrants.
Design: This study utilized a cross-sectional survey research design to explore predictors related to depression for elderly Korean immigrants.  A purposive sampling of the 160 elderly Korean immigrants constituted the sample.  The participants were recruited from June to August 2002 at the Korean American Senior Center in a large Metropolitan community.  Individual face-to face interviews using the questionnaire in Korean were conducted. Stepwise multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data.

Findings: This study revealed that income, acculturative stress, and living arrangement were significant predictors of depression among elderly Korean immigrants.  Income and living arrangement had a negative relationship with depression whereas acculturative stress had a positive relationship with depression.  As income declined among elderly Korean immigrants, depression increased.  Living with one’s adult children was associated with less depression and as acculturative stress increased so did depression for this sample of Korean elderly immigrants. Conclusion: This finding provide useful information for understanding depression among elderly Korean immigrants that can be used to develop culturally sensitive depression screening tools and interventions for reducing depression among elderly Korean immigrants.
