This presentation is part of : Comparison of Three Education Strategies for Nursing with Older Adults
Interdisciplinary Gerontology Course
Margaret Louis, RN, PhD, School of Nursing, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NV, USA

The interdisciplinary course is part of a university wide course offering. The students come from disciplines ranging from Dance to Business to Nursing. The variety of backgrounds of the students presents challenges for the faculty as well as providing a great richness for all the students' experience of learning how we age.

The presentation will include how expected or well aging is stressed to provide a base for assisting the student to identify abnormal or disease situations that need interventions, usually by a health professional. To enhance the non-clinical course, projects are used i.e. one to one interviews with elders and elder group projects.
