Learning Objective #1: understand the perceived health uncertainty among Perimenopause women.
Learning Objective #2: provid the nursing care include the parent-child relationships into the evaluation and nursing procedure for climacteric women.

ABSTRACT This research involved a cross-sectional investigation. The purpose was to explore the correlation between health uncertainty and parenthood among perimenopause women. A demography questionnaire, the Perceived Uncertainty Scale, and Parent-Child Relations Scale were used in the study. Fifty-one female subjects were recruited from the Chiayi-Tainan area of Taiwan. Data was collected by interview with female, age range from 40 to 60, who were in perimenopausal and their daughters were studying at a junior nursing college. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistic, Pearson product-moment correlation and canonical correlation. The essential results are summarized as follows. The degrees of uncertainty among the respondents was more than medium levels (M = 65.14, SD = 7.44), and demonstrated that the women’s sense of attachment was quite strong. The respondents’ uncertainty were positively canonical correlation (ρ = .504, p < .01) with parenthood-associated perceptions of “invests stress” and “tool functions”, also indicate that the ambiguity of uncertainty can predict for parent-child relationships more than the complexity. It is suggested, when providing the nursing care should include the parent-child relationships into the evaluation and nursing procedure for climacteric women.   Key Words: perimenopause, uncertainty, parenthood.
