The present study explores the mental health help-seeking behaviours of Korean Canadian adolescents in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) using a phenomenological approach. Current literature indicates a lack of attention focused on this growing community. Literature suggests that, in general, adolescents find difficulty in seeking help from professional health care workers. This is compounded by the stigma that pervades the Korean-Canadian community in the GTA in addition to the obstacles that Korean-Canadian adolescents face in this society. Participants that were recruited reminisced about their past adolescent experiences during the interviews. Particular attention was placed on their help-seeking behaviours. Data is currently being collected at this time. The findings from this study will be useful for future research on mental health help-seeking behaviours of this community and assist in the development of programs tailored to Korean-Canadian adolescents and mental health.
