Learning Objective #1: discuss assessment strategies for readiness to evidence-based practice in a community based hospital setting.
Learning Objective #2: discuss an organizational framework for implementing EBP in a community based hospital.

This presentation will describe an initiative between a University school of nursing and a community hospital with two campuses.  The initiative was established with the goal to introduce evidence-based practice (EBP) into the 280 bed hospital setting.  Following a comprehensive assessment which measured the hospital’s readiness to EBP, the Iowa Model of EBP to Promote Quality Care (M.Titler) was used to establish a “hospital-specific” organizational framework for implementing EBP nursing.  The “hospital-specific” organizational framework and survey is adaptable for use in other healthcare settings.  The framework is “user-friendly”, supports an EBP initiative, facilitates exchange among the nursing administrator, researchers, clinicians, and educators, while providing a roadmap implementation of EBP.  An overview of the survey findings will be presented
