Philanthropic Strategies for Nurse Researchers

Obtaining sustained funding for programs of research is necessary to insure that nursing research is translated to the clinical setting.  Governmental funding of research continues to be critical to the success of nursing research.  Current conditions, however, are opportune for nurse researchers to identify additional resources to support research.

Private individual donors and health related foundations are interested in the topics that nurses study.  Understanding philanthropic principles and developing expertise in attracting funding are important skills for nurse researchers.  Matching mission and vision of donors with the goals of nursing research creates synergy that will further nursing research.   Donor’s interests and vision can be fulfilled by the opportunity to support our research.  This session will help participants to

·       Develop their research stories to attract philanthropic support

·       Identify potential venues to tell these stories

·       Identify potential donors
