Learning Objective #1: comparision effectiness of Acupressure and Ibuprofen on pain intensity of dysmenorrhea |
Learning Objective #2: comparision effectiness of Acupressure and Ibuprofen on duration of pain of dysmenorrhea |
Introduction: Dysmenorrhea is the most common gynecological disorder among adolescent women. Objective: To evaluate the effect of Acupressure at sanyinjiao point and Ibuprofen on primary dysmenorrheal in the girl student of medical sciences university.
Method: This study was a randomized clinical trial in 80 girls between 18-22 year who complained of primary dysmenorrheal and had moderate or sever pain were enrolled in this study.
They divided two groups randomaly: (1) Acupressur group, (2) Ibuprofen group.
In the frist menstrual cycle, there were no intervention in two groups. In second and third cycles,40 cases in acupressur group used acupressure at sanyinjiao point and 40cases in Ibuprofen group treated with Ibuprofen (tablet 400 mg q 8h).
Data was gathered by questioner and Visual Analuge Scale (VAS)of pain and Andrish millson scale of dysmenorrhea.
We used mann –whitny, fridman , chi-squar and t-test for data analyzing.
Result: This study showed that there was no significant difference in comparison of pain intensity between two groups in the first and second month (p=0/073 and p=0/328 respectively) ,but there was a significant difference of pain intensity for each group before and after treatment.(p<0/001).
Duration of pain in the first and second months didn"t have any significant difference between two groups(p=0/308 and p=0/142 respectively) but duration of pain for each group before and after treatment had significance difference (p<0/001).
Need to extra analgesics in esch group during two cycle didn"t have any significant difference (p=0/390 and p= 0/352 respectively).
Counclusion: The findings suggest that acupressure at sanyinjiao point can be an effective, available, cost-free intervention for reducing pain in dysmenorrheal and we recommend its use for self-care of primary dysmenorrheal.
