Purpose:
This study aims to 1) determine the age-specific and
sex-specific prevalence rates of different types of insomnia (i.e., difficulty
initiating sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, early morning awakening, and
nonrestorative sleep) in Taiwanese general population, 2) examine the
correlates of sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness in Taiwanese
general population, and 3) compare the differences in demographic variables,
anthropometric data, sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and personal perception
of life among different insomnia groups.
Method: This study will analyze data from the 2005 Survey
of Social Development Trends ---Health Security conducted by the
Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, Executive Yuan,
Expected outcome: Data from this current analysis will provide
insights into the insomnia epidemic in Taiwanese general population.
