The Application of Case- Problem Based Learning on the Curriculum Design of Advance Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

Problem Based Learning(PBL) has been applied on the revolution of nursing education currently, however, the feasibility of PBL is better to be considerately on the whole teaching design. The purpose of this study was to explore the fundamental framework of education and strategies related to the application of PBL in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing for master students. Action research method was conducted. This paper analysis the curriculum design process on the application process of PBL on the Advanced Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from academic 2001 to 2005 years and the C-PBL approach (Case- Problem Bases Learning) on academic 2005 year . Results demonstrated (1) the suitable teaching model for conducting this course, (2) analysis the influencing contextual factors: mission, law, student characteristic; faculty characteristic, resource; (3) exploration the elements of curriculum design: objectives, contents, strategies, evaluation (4) the specific strategies of clinical case oriented presentation on PBL . Conclusion was emerged from this study that the fusion of PBL with clinical case was adapted into this course of Advanced Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing for master students.
