The TCAB goals on this unit are to: improve patient and nursing satisfaction by increasing nurse-to-nurse communications to better facilitate patient care and improve patient outcomes; decrease time spent “hunting and gathering” materials and equipment; and create a more pleasant, comfortable and efficient working environment.
Examples of innovations include, but are not limited to the following: nurse aide safety rounds and hiring a cardiac monitor technician (Safe and Reliable Care); daily multidisciplinary rounds and weekly “Time out for TCAB”sessions (Vitality and Teamwork); daily “Quiet Time” (Patient Centeredness); and phone in medication room along with relocation of supplies (Efficiency).
Outcomes achieved include, but are not limited to the following: Fall rate less than 0.0060; pressure ulcer rate less than 0.0020; adverse drug event rate less than 0.0025; RN vacancy rate remaining at 0; voluntary staff turnover rate remaining at 0; and increased patient satisfaction.
