This presentation is part of : Evaluating EBP: How Beliefs and Attitudes varied among Different Settings
Acute Care Nurses' Beliefs about Evidence-Based Practice
Priscilla Sandford Worral, PhD, RN, University Hospital, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY, USA

An increasing number of studies are available to identify the barriers evidence-based practice (EBP) champions will face in their efforts to implement EBP in the practice setting. Lack of time, lack of knowledge, and lack of resources frequently top the list. But what about lack of belief? It would seem intuitive that there is a relationship between belief in EBP and its successful implementation. Few published data exist to adequately describe relationships among nurse characteristics, work context, and aspects of EBP belief, however. This presentation will describe the demographic and contextual landscape of registered nurses working in acute care, intensive care, and step-down areas in an academic medical center, and how variations in this landscape are tied to variation in nurses’ belief in EBP
