Migration and mobility are defining characteristics of the healthcare professions in a global economy. With the increasing need for nurses worldwide comes a greater creativity in defining and developing educational programs that can meet the growing demand for nurses.

This presentation will examine key trends and issues that influence educational patterns emerging from globalization. It will highlight the similarities and differences in educational patterns that have occurred across national boundaries and discuss the ensuing issues related to scope of practice and safe patient care. Obstacles, challenges, opportunities and lessons learned will be discussed.
