The results of clinical reports and various studies show that personality factors and psychological factors of mental disorder cause or exacerbate the phenomena of child abuse (Kaplan & sodock, 2005). And demographic factors such as, education, age, and poverty can play an important role in these phenomena.
The purpose of the present study is to distinguish  the personality characteristics display the mental profile and psychological domains of abuser mothers based on personality scales pertaining to research hypotheses (dependent personality scale, obsessive – compulsive scale and borderline personality disorder) and some other personality scales.
The present study was semi-experimental and considered as cause and effect research. Samples included a clinical group (abuser mothers, N=30) and control group (no abuser mothers, N=30), that were selected through judgment sampling and after matching with control group that lacks maltreatment with children were examined. In order to gathering information the child abuse test (KAT”S) that accompanies demographic charachterististics, and a matched test group and no abuser group were identified. Then Milon Personality Test (MCMI-II) was administered on their mothers and data was analyzed by one-way T-test and SPSS software.
The results showed significant difference between the two groups, and research question about the personality difference in the profiles of these two groups of mothers were proved. And in scale pertaining to researches, that is depended scale, obsessive-compulsive scale, the main difference between them were significance ( P = < 0.05 ) .and the significance in borderline personality scale was more than the two other scale.
