Understanding the Complexity of Implementing EBP with Technology

This session will focus on the unique lessons learned from the perspective of a Nurse CEO who leads the work to implement and sustain evidence-based practice at the point of care. The need for administrative and board support and the approaches that solidified engagement at all levels of the organization will be shared including the wisdom of diverse rural, community and university settings who have collectively shared the lessons learned along the journey within a consortium partnership council. The surprising challenges encountered on the road to implementation and the necessity of system infrastructures to remove the barriers such as partnership councils will be shared. The importance of understanding the functionality of the technology used to assure successful outcomes and the ability to deliver content and update the content will be discussed. The impact of the foundation processes, and structures needed to sustain evidence-based practice and the financial ramifications related to actual clinical outcomes will be shared.
