The EBP paradigm is the driver of Professional Practice in which best care is the highway to meeting and sustaining improved clinical outcomes. Professional Practice and Shared Governance will be highlighted as the key elements, when aligned with the EBP paradigm, create unique synergies. Specific EBP implementation strategies and their potential to contribute to the achievement of Professional Practice will be presented. Strategies to steer this paradigm shift will include a discussion of successful development and support of resident EBP experts and leaders in organizational and academic settings, EBP mentorship programs, EBP integration in academic curricula, and EBP continuing education.

The learner will be able to:

1. Discuss the EBP paradigm as the driver of professional practice.

2. Identify EBP implementation strategies to steer the paradigm shift.
