The Methadone Maintenance Treatement (MMT) Champion Network (c) is a network of health professionals who aspire to help others implement an evidence-based practice guideline on Methadone Maintenance Treatment. This network enables MMT Champions  who are armed with advanced knowledge of MMT best practices and change management skills to support peers in implementing the recommendations within the MMT guideline. The MMT Champions initially gain their advanced knowledge in implementing practice change and MMT best practices by participating in a MMT Champions workshop that is facilitated by an expert in MMT practice.  The cirruculum for the day-long workshop is based on effective knowledge transfer practices, adult learning principles and specific content from the MMT guideline. A significant component of the MMT Champions workshop focuses on the introduction of evidece based practice in health organizations, as well as in-depth information as well as structured approach to implementing change.  The other area of focus within the MMT Champions workshop involves presentations, disccusions and learning activities based on the recommendation and case studies from the MMT guidelines. The MMT Champions are encouraged to enhance their knowledge of MMT best practices via the expanding membership of the MMT Champions Network.  Sustainability of MMT best practices in organizations is realized from the broad scope in roles and domains of practice of the various MMT Champions.  The MMT Champions influence both formally and informally care providers, educators, administrators, clients and the community and this influence impacts MMT practices and the existance of an evidence based organization. This presentation will share key success stories of how the MMT Champions Network can change the practice of nurses and other health professionals as well as initiate the development of, and sustain a culture of evidence informed practice, through enhancing our focus on the research-practice interface.
