Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to know the education intervention program of the peripheral short catheter placement skill.

Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to know the effect of the education intervention program.

Purpose: To experimentally verify the effects of educational intervention in Catheter placement.  Methods: 41 Fresh nurses (FN) were randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group. Catheter placement were implemented prior to educational intervention by veteran nurses(VN) and over approximately three months of daily clinical tasks. The training program was as follows: 1) FN viewed video training materials showing the standard procedure repeatedly. 2) FN implemented catheter placement on the nurses playing the patient role (with video recording), and viewed the video after implementation. 3) The VN performed educational intervention aimed at the FN. 4) The VN standardized the teaching content in advance, so as to provide guidance while emphasizing the technique for selecting an insertion site. Seirei Christopher University Ethical Review Board was approved.  Results: 1. The success rate of the intervention group increased 19.1% from 47.6% to 66.7%.But the control group did not change as 45.0%. 2. In the intervention group, 8 FN who did not promotes to clench the hand or did not implemented palpation for the site selection, and 7 FN were improved after intervention by VN. In the control group, 8 FN who did not, and 3 FN were improved.  Discussion: In the training program, detailed instruction by the VN based on video recording of the new nurses made it possible for the FN to objectively absorb the techniques. Moreover, it is believed that it was effective for the VN to have emphasized in advance, in order to better teach it, the technique for selecting an insertion site.  Conclusion: By means of educational intervention by veteran nurses, the success rate for FN increased.
