Mentoring Students in Research Utilization from a Primary Care and Global Perspective

This presentation will focus on the outcomes of the model for research utilization in international graduate education. An analysis of the facilitators and barriers to implementation of projects in a community based setting will be explored. Discussion of the type of mentoring from a primary care perspective that facilitated the successful implementation of selected projects. A summary of implications for international evidenced based practice and translational research will be presented. The projects that have been implemented have contributed to changes in nursing practice in a community center that is partially sponsored by the nursing college. A first place award from the Department of Health and Human Services for innovation in health promotion and disease prevention was given to one of the graduate students who implemented her project.
