Nursing leaders face challenges every day. The way that leaders navigate challenges every day sets the tone for groups not only surviving but thriving. Through a discussion of case studies, the presenters will walk participants through ways leaders can reinvorgorate groups and bring new energy to projects. One of the first steps a leader could consider in his or her leadership journey is identifying a leadership framework that seems to fit their goals. One example of such a framework is Kouzes and Posner's (2015) The Leadership Challenge. Through the identification of a leadership framework, leaders also have a choice in the type of leadership they wish to exemplify. This presentation will help leaders recognize the importance of self-assessment and self-reflection in their everyday leadership activities. This presentation will highlight Transformative Leadership. Case studies will be discussed to highlight how transformative leaders can build groups and organizations but can also reinvigorate groups and organizations that need an energy boost. This presentation will give real-life examples of how a leader's mindset sets the tone for groups and organizations. Brene Brown's work will be referenced as a resource for leaders who want more information about developing a positive leadership mindset. Brown's (2015) work regarding leaning into discomfort will be highlighted. Dweck's (2006) work about fixed and growth mindsets will also be highlighted. Brown's (2012) work regarding vulnerability as an accurate measure of courage will also be discussed. By identifying a leadership framework and determining the type of leadership a person wants to exemplify, current and future nursing leaders can transform and build successful organizations and groups and strengthen current organizations and groups. A leader's energy sets the tone for the success and the future of the group, and there are many resources available to help leaders build a positive mindset. The future of nursing depends on having transformational leaders ready to find solutions to complex health issues.
