We Shall Overcome: Strategies to Meet Challenges that Accompany EBP Implementation
Ellen Fineout-Overholt, PhD, RN, College of Nursing, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, USA

Best laid plans rarely work out perfectly. This collaborative project was no exception. Many challenges presented themselves for the research team to address. These challenges, including some from the literature (e.g., administrative support, lack of time, and apathy), were considered by the team and strategies were designed to facilitate nurses' needs and the implementation of the project. This presentation will describe selected challenges of the EBP implementation project. Processes that failed in overcoming anticipated challenges then will be discussed. Next, successful implementation strategies will be presented. Finally, strategies that were successful in overcoming unforeseen challenges will be described.
