Evidence-based practice is a problem solving approach to practice that incorporates evidence from the best studies, a clinician's expertise, and patient preferences and values. Although it is known that EBP improves patient outcomes by approximately 28 percent, many healthcare professionals are not consistently implementing evidence-based care in their daily clinical practices. Furthermore, models of EBP have yet to be tested in the form of randomized clinical trials that can then guide best practice for institutionalizing EBP in healthcare settings. The purpose of this paper is to describe the strategic planning initative that was developed to launch and test the ARCC model in acute care settings. A major focus of the presentation will be strategies to enhance collaboration in advancing the ARCC model among partnering organizations. The benefits of collaborative EBP models will be highlighted.
