Rehabilitation nursing has the goals of supporting patient autonomy, the highest level of independence, and life satisfaction following severe injury or with chronic illness. The focus of this study was to investigate if higher levels of satisfaction correlated with higher levels of spirituality. A nationwide sample of 230 persons with spinal cord injury participated in this study by completing the Satisfaction with Life Scale and the Quality of Life Index, plus a demographic data form. Results of the study indicated that there was a positive correlation between levels of life satisfaction and spirituality. This study gives direction to rehabilitation nurses to assist clients in their care program to achieve their highest potential for quality of life.
