Faculty Partner with Community Medical Center to Transform Practice with Support of Technology
Pamela Brown, PhD, Nursing, Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing, Quincy, IL, USA

This presentation will focus on the impact of the School of Nursing’s partnership with the Community Medical Center in a joint effort to use technology to transform practice at the point of care.  The nature of the work needed by faculty to integrate the latest technology and an integrated, evidence-based, interdisciplinary practice model into each of the teaching learning strategies within the classroom, learning labs and clinical rotations will be addressed.  The outcomes of the involvement of the faculty in the hospitals partnership infrastructure and their active role in each phase of implementation of technology not only enhanced their understanding of the day to day clinical realities  but also enhanced the relationships with staff of all disciplines and gave insights into the new skills needed at the point of care. The lessons learned and the long term outcomes of this partnership will be explored and correlated to the challenges and opportunities within the academic settings and the enrichment of the curriculum development.
