Learning Objective #1: assess nurses' perceived value and willingness of using care plan decision support system
Learning Objective #2: identify the relationship between the nurses perceived easiness of use and usefulness factors of care plan decision support system

Purpose
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the nurses of the acute care setting on their acceptance of care plan decision support system.
Method
This study used the Technology Acceptance Model, which relies on the perceived “easiness of use (EOU)” and “usefulness (U)” factors, to evaluate the nurses’ perceived value and willingness of using the systems.  The care plan decision support system were developed in the period of January 2002 to October 2003 and three stages of intensive training courses using the systems were held for 57 nurses at a medical center.  An expert-validated questionnaire was used for the survey on May 2004.  The Cronbach’s alpha scores of the questionnaire ranged from 0.91 to 0.93 and 57 effective copies of the questionnaire were collected.
Results The results showed that there was no statistically significant differences between the nurses’ age, education level, length of working experience, and nurses’ behavioral intention on care plan decision support system.  The significant relationship between the nurses perceived EOU and the enhancement of job performance with nurses’ behavioral intention on the care plan decision support system.  However, there was not enough data to support the relationships between the interface design, EOU, perceived practical values of contents, perceived U, and nurses’ behavioral intention on the care plan decision support system. The results also suggested that the nurses thought that the factor of EOU was more important than U.  The evaluation of the practical use of systems would be the next research topic.
Conclusions
Nurses perceived that the care plan decision support system enhance their job performance and usefulness, but the practical use of systems need to investigate.
